Recent developments in the Middle East conflict reflect complex dynamics that continue to change over time. In recent years, new powers, alliances, and the rise of social movements have changed the geopolitical map of the region. One of the most dominating issues is the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Despite various diplomatic efforts, including the normalization of relations between Israel and several Arab countries, tensions between the parties involved remain high. Rocket attacks from Gaza and Israel’s military response show that the situation remains volatile. Meanwhile, in Syria, the civil war that has been going on since 2011 still has deep effects. The emergence of groups such as ISIS and the creation of local militias continues to complicate the situation. In its development, support from foreign powers, such as Russia and the US, has had a significant impact on the direction of the conflict and regional stability. Peace negotiations promoted by the UN are still deadlocked, showing that a long-term solution is still far from being achieved. Lebanon also faces major challenges. Hezbolla’s existence, in the context of political shifts and economic crisis, created tensions with Israel. Small but focused attacks between the two entities further escalated the situation, with significant impacts on the civilian population. Lebanon’s worsening economic problems, coupled with public protests, add layers of complexity to the country. Yemen, caught in a conflict between the internationally recognized government and the Houthis, continues to have one of the world’s worst humanitarian crises. International intervention, especially from Saudi Arabia and Iran, prolonged the conflict, with serious repercussions for the population. Various mediation efforts from third parties are important, but the results often do not last long. On the other hand, Iran and Saudi Arabia, which are the dominant powers in the region, continue to try to build influence with each other. The agreement to normalize relations between the two countries indicates the potential for dialogue, although the challenges remain enormous. This is mainly related to their support for different actors in conflict projects throughout the Middle East, including in Iraq and Syria. Additionally, modern technology, such as drones, has changed the way conflict plays out, giving non-state actors new advantages. The use of these technologies creates new challenges for the way international organizations handle conflict, requiring more innovative and integrated approaches. From a social perspective, the pro-democracy movements that emerged during the Arab Spring still have relevance. An increasingly educated civil society strives to fight for their rights, although often facing pressure from repressive governments. In many ways, social media plays an important role in disseminating information and mobilization, having a significant impact on conflict dynamics. In this context, the expansion of external influence in the Middle East, involving powers such as China, shows that the geopolitical arena is no longer dominated by western powers alone. In this case, the latest developments in the conflict in the Middle East are an illustration of the complex interactions between politics, economics and society that will continue to develop and influence the world.
